Designing beautiful and functional rooms is a collaborative process. In this first meeting, Mary Susan will meet with perspective clients to listen to the overall design goals for the project.  The initial meeting takes place at our design studio where the client can see the resource room, additional work in Mary Susan’s portfolio and the Mary Vincent Fine Art Gallery.

The primary goal of the consultation is to determine if the client/designer relationship is compatible.  We will discuss which phase the project best fits either in the construction phase or the soft side/ furnishing phase, or more commonly both.  A general discussion of style, color and function are then discussed, as well as a possible timeline and budget.
Interiors by Mary Susan is a design firm that takes pride in developing strong relationships with its clients from the start to finish of each project.

At this stage we will discuss and agree upon all elements of the design process. We will review the project budget, timeline and design fees and a process agreement will be prepared for the client’s review and signature.

The design process begins….We will meet at the clients home where we will ask a variety of questions of how you and your family function in the home and review the design goals of the project. We will revisit the initial discussion on color palette and the desired design style. We will then take an inventory of existing treasured furnishings we can integrate into the new design.  Detailed measurements and notes for window treatments, paint colors, flooring options, and other important details will be discussed and noted.

Depending on which phase the projects is in, meetings may be scheduled to select the following resources such as flooring, kitchen and bath cabinetry and fixtures, lighting, and other important architectural elements.  As the process continues, clients will be presented with detailed space plans, selected paint and fabric options as well as suggested furniture selections.  The process of suggestions and selections will continue with accessories, accent lighting, art, and floral arrangements. Should the project be out of state, communication will be essential with E-mail and samples will be mailed in organized packets for consideration.

Ahhhhh! This is the most rewarding to us. The project is complete and the client can now enjoy their new space and begin to live beautifully in it.
