Design Emergency on
Fox Network's "Kitchen Nightmares"

Here is what happened in a nut shell. Next to our design studio is a restaurant that was selected from over 1000 entrants to be part of Kitchen Nightmares on Fox Network. Cafe 36 was going through a change of ownership and had applied for help from the show.
During the filming the creative director stopped in our design studio and asked me if I had access to wallpaper overnight. Apparently, in their mini redo of the place the wallpaper came in …but in the wrong color. This was the day before the grand opening. I said wallpaper at such notice would be very difficult to find and instead I suggested using a stencil. We all agreed a white wall with a black stencil in a damask like pattern would be great. I just had to find it.
After several phone calls I located one of the faux artists I use for design projects and she had one. It took all night to complete and then also became the symbol for the menu as well. In addition one of our featured artists on Mary Vincent Fine Art, Elisa Boughner, was selected to display her art in the restaurant.
It certainly was amazing to see the frantic timeframe the show worked in. The end result was great and now we have visitors from all over the country that have seen this show.
